Exciting Expeditions for Edmonton Cadets
The Edmonton Sea Cadets Corps better known as TS Plymouth, are embarking on an exciting programme of expeditions for cadets after receiving a donation from LondonWaste Ltd.
The Corps offer a range of water sports activities as well as the opportunity to complete the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh's (DoE) Award. The DoE's Award requires cadets aged from 14 - 25 to plan, train for and push on with overnight expeditions and that requires funding.
Edmonton Unit Commanding Officer, Chief Petty Officer Tony Stevens said: "We're really grateful to LondonWaste Ltd for their continued support; it's great for the young people who use the facilities to be supported by local business." David Sargent, Managing Director of LondonWaste EcoPark said: "We are proud to support this voluntary organisation. The cadets gain skills for life as well as gain an appreciation for the environment."
The Sea Cadet Corps is a nationwide voluntary youth organisation open to young people from 10 to 18. Edmonton Sea Cadets meet at their unit, TS Plymouth on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings at 7:30pm - 9:30pm. Anyone interested in joining can call the unit on 020 8807 9129 or turn up on a parade night and speak to a member of staff.
The Edmonton Sea Cadets' unit is located within the LondonWaste EcoPark, next to the River Lee in Edmonton and the land-based training centre is powered by renewable energy from the EcoPark.
