What is the point in recycling, it all gets dumped?
This is a myth. Recycling is worthwhile. A visit to a Materials Recycling Facility or MRF is amazing. You'll get to see how mixed recyclables are sorted through a series of conveyor belts with magnets and air jets, and laserbeams all of which identify and separate materials into relevant segregated groups, there is some hand sorting too.
